Uganda Ebola
Transcript: What if a country could finally breathe a sigh of relief after a major health scare? Uganda has officially discharged its last Ebola patient from a hospital in Kampala! The outbreak infected twenty people and claimed two lives. Now, the World Health Organization has started a forty-two-day countdown. If no new cases appear, the country will be declared completely Ebola-free. Health minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi says they are asking other countries to lift travel restrictions so their economy can recover. It is a huge milestone for global health and safety. How would you celebrate if your town reached a major goal?
Giraffe Math
Transcript: Did you know that some animals can actually do math? Researchers at Spain's Barcelona Zoo recently tested four giraffes to see if they could count. They placed different amounts of carrots in containers and moved them around. It turns out, two of the four giraffes successfully performed simple addition to figure out which box had the most food! Biologist Iker Loidi says they can mentally combine quantities to make optimal decisions. While they failed at subtraction, this proves that large brains are not required for numbers. Do you like doing your math homework?
Exoplanet Atmosphere
Transcript: Imagine looking through a telescope and seeing the sky of an alien world! Scientists have observationally confirmed an atmosphere around a rocky exoplanet located forty-nine light years away. The planet, called LHS 1140b, sits in a habitable zone where liquid water could exist. Using a telescope in Chile, researchers captured data in 2024 that revealed helium escaping from the planet. Professor Jayne Birkby says the atmosphere reacts to the high extreme ultraviolet radiation of its host star. Would you want to travel to another star system to see it?
3D Printed Bridge
Transcript: Could a robot print a bridge strong enough for you to walk on? Researchers at MIT have created a new framework for 3D-printing concrete structures. They designed and printed a two-point-three-meter bridge that took just thirty minutes to make! When they tested it, the bridge held more than two thousand pounds. The team realized that laying it down bead by bead like a giant icing-piping robot eliminates the labor-intensive formwork of pouring it into molds. They found that using a smaller nozzle could cut material use by seventy-six percent. What would you print?
Roblox AI Game Creation
Transcript: What if you could build a video game just by typing a sentence on your phone? Roblox is introducing a new artificial intelligence tool called Build. It allows anyone to turn text prompts into a basic game directly within the mobile app! The system handles gameplay mechanics, environment, characters, visual style, and sound powered by Roblox's own AI models. The feature will be available starting July 28th in public alpha to users in New Zealand who are at least nine years old. What kind of game would you ask the computer to make for you?
Asteroid is a Comet
Transcript: Have you ever seen an asteroid suddenly change its path? Scientists tracking a near-Earth object called 1998 SH2 realized it was not moving like a normal space rock. When it passed within two million miles of Earth in August 2025, telescopes in Hawaii and Chile took a closer look. Davide Farnocchia at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory says the object is actually a dark comet! The Sun heating ice mixed with rocky material turns the ice into a gas. This venting generates a small thrust that causes the object to deviate from its predicted path. Where is it going?
Permanent Daylight Saving Time
Transcript: Are you tired of changing your clocks twice a year? The US House of Representatives recently passed a bill to make daylight saving time permanent. But history shows this might be a tricky idea. Back in 1974, Congress tried the exact same thing, but it was repealed by October because people hated waking up in the dark. An AP-NORC poll found that only twelve percent of adults actually favor the current clock-changing system. If the new bill becomes law, winter mornings will be much darker for students heading to school. Do you prefer morning sunlight?
Agent 64 Game
Transcript: Do you love the blocky graphics of classic nineties video games? A brand new retro-style spy shooter called Agent 64 is launching on August 11. Developed by Replicant D6, the game features a fourteen-stage campaign where you play as a secret operative. You can play alone, or split the screen with up to three friends for local multiplayer! The developers designed the game to look and feel exactly like the classic console shooters from the late nineties and early two thousands. What is your absolute favorite vintage video game to play with friends?
Phoebe Bridgers Band
Transcript: Imagine performing on national television with a band made entirely of kids! Musician Phoebe Bridgers recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show to play her new song, Lost Boys. On Tuesday, her backing band was a group of very skilled children. But when she returned the next day to play an acoustic version, she was accompanied by three veteran musicians instead! The two different performances highlighted the song's theme about people who never grow up. If you could start a band with your friends, what instrument would you want to play?
World Cup Finances
Transcript: How much money does a massive global sports tournament actually make? The 2026 World Cup across the US, Canada, and Mexico is expanding to a forty-eight-team format. Experts at Deutsche Bank Research say Fifa generated seven point six billion dollars from the 2022 tournament, and revenues are now approaching thirteen billion dollars! Broadcasters are also cashing in, with a thirty-second television ad costing up to seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars. But for everyday fans, attending a match is incredibly expensive, with some train tickets and hotel rooms spiking in price. Would you pay that much?
