Lesson notes
Use Socratic prompting to get ChatGPT hints instead of instant answers. Ask for one small clue or question, try the next step yourself, then request more help only when you need it.
Follow the hint ladder: tiny clue, bigger clue, setup, worked example, then the full answer. Stay on the lowest rung that lets you move forward.
Try: “Give me hints one at a time. Start very small. Only give a bigger hint if I ask.” If AI reveals too much, tell it: “That gave away the answer. Give me a smaller hint next time.”
When you do need a full solution, ask AI to explain each step, then try a similar problem on your own. The test is simple: can you do the next one without help?
